How to read this page
Every line in the table beside this one is checkable by someone who has never met us. The registration number resolves to a registered entity, the address is an office in Al-Khuwair you can walk into, and the numbers reach a named person.
What you will not find is a client count, a success rate, a years-in-business figure or a list of qualifications. Those are absent on purpose, and this page names which were withheld and why.

Four things, in writing. A scope that names the intended route, the included work and the exclusions. A milestone map that keeps registration, licensing, banking and residence as separate events. A statement of which decisions are not ours to make. And a defined piece of evidence for each milestone, so completion means something specific.
That list is deliberately unromantic, and it is the shortest honest description of what a formation firm sells. Nobody sells an approval; what is sold is preparation, sequencing, correct filing and a clear account of where your case stands. If a quotation is missing one of the four, ask before you pay. The missing one is usually the fourth, and an undefined finishing line is where disputes start.
The route, the included work, the assumptions behind it, the exclusions and what you must supply.
Registration, licensing, banking and residence described as four separate events, not one.
Which decisions sit with an authority, a bank or a landlord rather than with us.
A named document or status per milestone, so finished is a thing you can hold.
Customer questions
Several of these answers are a refusal to supply a number. The reason for each refusal is given rather than hidden.
Setup in Oman is the trading name of Smart Financial Audit and Trading SPC, commercial registration CR 1483685. Check the number against the register, and confirm it matches the entity named on your quotation and invoice.
No years-in-business figure is published here. The commercial registration record carries the registration date, which is documentary rather than promotional, and that is the figure to rely on.
Not published. An honest figure needs a countable case register, a definition of formed, a period and someone accountable for the total. Until that record exists in reviewable form, a website number is decoration.
The site publishes his name and role: Muhammad Waqas Akram, Founder and Senior Sales Consultant. It publishes no qualifications or memberships, because none has been verified to a standard this site will stand behind. Ask him directly, and ask for the certificate.
No country count is published. The answer that affects you is different: your nationality is not the test. The activity you intend to run decides whether you can own the company outright.
No. Mainland formation only. Free zones are run by their own authorities under their own rules, and we do not provide that service. If your plan needs a zone, you need a provider inside it, and we will say so.
You are told that, and who does know. Some questions belong to a qualified tax adviser, a lawyer, a regulator or the bank. Where an official figure could not be obtained, these pages say so.
We decide what to recommend, how to prepare a file and what order to file in. Name approval, activity permission, bank acceptance, authority timing and residence outcomes all sit with someone else.
Decision guide
This is the part of the site that describes the firm itself: the legal entity behind it, the person who answers, the office you can visit, the work it does and refuses, how it sources what it publishes, and the claims it has deliberately left off the site. Use it as a checklist for us, then use the same checklist on whoever else you are considering.
Legal identity
Setup in Oman is a trading brand. The legal entity behind it is Smart Financial Audit and Trading SPC, commercial registration CR 1483685. That entity is the party you contract with, the name on a quotation, and the name that should appear on any invoice you are asked to pay.
The distinction is not pedantry. A website name costs the price of a domain. A commercial registration is a public record tied to a legal form, an activity list and an accountable owner. When a firm publishes only a brand, there is nothing for a customer to verify and nothing for a regulator to attach responsibility to.
A commercial registration proves a company exists and is registered. It does not prove competence, solvency or the quality of any particular piece of work. It is a floor to clear, not a recommendation.
Verification
Test four things independently: the legal entity name, the commercial registration number, the office address and the named contact. Each is published on this page precisely so it can be checked. A firm that will not give you all four in writing before payment has told you something useful about itself.
These checks confirm a firm is real, reachable and accountable. They do not confirm it is good at your case. For that, read its written scope and judge whether it has understood the work.
Who answers
Muhammad Waqas Akram, Founder and Senior Sales Consultant. He is the published commercial contact, the person who owns what this site says about prices and scope, and the person who answers the mobile number above. He is named so that responsibility for what you are told has somewhere to land.
A name does not expand anyone’s authority. A named consultant cannot make a ministry approve a trade name, make a bank onboard a company or shorten a processing period. Where a question needs a qualified tax, legal, immigration or labour opinion, the right answer is a referral rather than an improvisation.
The name and job title published here are supplied by the business. They are not a professional qualification, a licence or an accreditation, and this site claims none of those for him.
The office
Office 505, Building 1532, Road 3519, Block 235, Al-Khuwair, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Al-Khuwair is a central Muscat business district, close to the ministry buildings most formation work touches. It is where documents are handled and where you can meet the named contact in person.
Premises matter for a practical reason more than a symbolic one. Formation work involves original documents, attested corporate papers, signatures and, at some stages, an in-person appearance. A firm with no premises in Oman solves that by courier and by favour, and the seams show when something must be fixed the same day.
A visitable office shows a firm is physically accountable in Oman. It says nothing about whether a bank will accept your file or an authority will approve your activity.
Scope
Mainland Oman company formation and the work around it: scoping the route before you file, preparing and filing the registration, coordinating activity licensing, preparing the document file a bank will ask for, supporting residence and employee permissions, and keeping the entity compliant afterwards.
| Stage | What the firm does | What the firm cannot do |
|---|---|---|
| Before filing | Scope the activity, structure, ownership route and order of filings | Give a legal opinion or a binding tax ruling |
| Registration | Prepare and file the mainland registration and constitutive documents | Approve the trade name or activity; that is the Ministry’s call |
| Licensing | Identify and coordinate the activity licences and approvals needed | Grant a sector approval or waive a regulator’s condition |
| Banking | Assemble the company, ownership and source-of-funds file | Open the account, promise approval or predict timing |
| Residence | Prepare and submit investor, employee and family applications | Guarantee an outcome or a processing time |
| After formation | Support tax registration, bookkeeping, renewals and compliance dates | Replace a qualified auditor, tax adviser or lawyer |
Detail for each stage is linked rather than repeated: the formation process, prices, legal form, ownership rules and banking.
Preparing and submitting an application is not the same as securing its outcome. No part of this service carries government, regulator or bank endorsement.
What we refuse
Four things, stated here so nobody discovers them mid-engagement. No free zone or special economic zone formation. No legal opinions. No tax rulings. And no promises about a decision that belongs to a bank, a ministry or the police.
Free zone work is the most common of the four. Oman’s zones are administered by their own authorities, with their own licensing routes, fees and eligibility rules. If your plan genuinely belongs in a zone — as some manufacturing, logistics and re-export models do — expect to be told so plainly. Our free zone guide exists to help you decide, not to route you back to the mainland.
If you need a free zone licence, a legal opinion or a defensible tax position, you need someone else. Being told that early is worth more than being kept as a client.
Quotation
A dated written quotation naming your scenario — the activity, the number of owners, the intended structure — with the included work, the exclusions, who bears each cost, the milestones, how long it is valid and what happens to the price if the scope changes.
Published package prices start at OMR 980 and describe a stated scope for a stated scenario. They are a starting point, not a contract: your activity may need an approval the package does not cover, and a second owner changes both structure and price. The cost page sets out what each includes.
Where a website figure and your quotation disagree, the quotation controls. A price on a page you read weeks ago is not an offer, and a chat message with a total and no scope is not a quotation.
First contact
Questions, not a quotation. A useful first call establishes what the business will actually do, who will own it, whether you intend to live in Oman and when you need to be trading. Most of it is us listening. At the end you should know the route, the open questions and the next step.
Expect at least one answer you did not want — a restricted activity, a sector approval that adds weeks, or a plan better served by a free zone we do not serve. Keep passports, bank statements and corporate documents out of a first message; nothing at that stage needs them, and the enquiry form collects none of them.
Nothing said in a first call is a quotation, an approval or a commitment by either side. The written scope that follows it is the document that means something.
Status
By the word used in the update and the document attached to it. Prepared, submitted, approved, issued and activated are five different states with five different pieces of evidence. Collapsing them into done is how clients come to believe an account exists before a bank has agreed to open one.
| Status | What it means | The evidence for it |
|---|---|---|
| Information requested | We are waiting on something from you | A written list of outstanding items |
| Prepared | The file is complete and ready to go in | The assembled document set |
| Submitted | It is with the authority or bank; the decision is theirs | A submission acknowledgement or reference |
| Additional information required | The recipient has come back with questions | Their request, passed on unedited |
| Approved or issued | A decision has been made in your favour | The issued document, certificate or number |
| Activated | The thing is usable — an account that can move funds | Confirmation from the issuing party |
The gap that matters most is between approved and activated, and it shows up most often in banking: a bank can approve an application and still require steps before the account can move money.
Completed on its own is not a status. It should always be completed for a named milestone, with the remaining dependencies still visible underneath it.
Authority
The firm decides what to recommend, how to prepare a file, what order to file in and what it tells you. Everything that constitutes an outcome is decided by someone else, on their criteria and their timetable.
| Decision | Who makes it |
|---|---|
| Recommended structure and sequence | The firm, on the facts you supply |
| Trade name and activity approval | The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion |
| Whether an activity is open to full foreign ownership | Set by law and ministerial decision, not by any consultant |
| Sector licences and inspections | The relevant regulator or municipality |
| Tax registration, assessment and rates | The Oman Tax Authority |
| Whether a corporate account opens, and when | The bank, under its own compliance rules |
| Investor, employee and family residence | The Royal Oman Police and the Ministry of Labour |
Preparation, accuracy, sequencing, filing on time and telling you the truth about where things stand. That is a real accountability, and it is the one you can hold us to.
Documents
Not in a first message and not into a public form. Establish what the service actually needs, confirm who is receiving it, agree a channel, and send only what the current stage requires. The enquiry form on this site collects no identity or financial documents by design.
A change of bank details arriving by email or chat, however plausible, should be confirmed on a number you already had. This is the most common way money is lost in cross-border engagements.
Sourcing
From the body that controls each fact, named and dated in the text. A tax rate comes from the Tax Authority. An ownership rule comes from the decree that created it. A bank’s minimum balance comes from that bank’s own published terms. Package prices come from the business and are labelled as such.
Two habits follow, and they are this site’s real advantage over pages that read more confidently. Sources are dated, so you can see when the page last looked. And where an official figure could not be obtained, the page says so rather than substituting an industry estimate — the standard is published, and corrections go to info@setupinoman.com.
It records when the source was last checked. Omani rules, fees and bank requirements can change the day after a review, so a dated page is a starting point for your own check, not a substitute for it.
Claims
Client volumes, country counts, success and approval rates, guaranteed turnarounds, professional accreditations, team size, testimonials and case studies. Some existed in draft marketing material and were removed. They are withheld because no reviewable evidence record supports them, not because they would be unflattering.
There is a cost to this. A competitor claiming thousands of companies formed looks stronger at a glance. We think someone about to send documents and money abroad is better served by verifiable identity than by unverifiable scale. Two supplied claims remain off the site: a figure in the thousands for files handled, and a figure in the dozens for countries covered.
If a firm publishes a success rate, ask what it counts and over what period. A number with no denominator is not a number.
Track record
By what can be checked instead. The registration record carries a date. Independent review platforms are hosted elsewhere and cannot be edited by us. And the written scope you are given is itself evidence: whether it has understood your case is something you can judge before paying.
Reviews are the most useful independent signal, and the important word is independent. This site publishes no self-authored ratings and no review markup; it links to an externally hosted profile so the record sits where the firm cannot edit it.
None of this is as reassuring as a large number would be. It is simply the part that can be substantiated, and a claim you cannot check is not reassurance but the appearance of it.
Limits
You are told that, together with who can answer it and what a reliable answer would take. A formation consultant who improvises on tax, immigration or contract law is not being helpful; they are transferring risk onto a client who cannot see it.
Other questions have no published answer at all. Processing times vary with the case and the completeness of the file. Where this site gives a range — the usual estimate of seven to ten days from a complete file to a commercial registration — it is labelled an estimate rather than dressed up as a rule. So an answer arrives in one of three forms: here is the source, here is our estimate and what it depends on, or here is who to ask.
Saying we do not know loses work to firms that will say anything. That is a known and accepted cost of publishing this way.
